Hospitality sector gears up for C'wealth Games

New Delhi: The Commonwealth Games are scheduled to be held from October 3 to October 14, 2010. The entire National Capital Region is expected to see an estimated 27 new hotels, serviced apartments and mixed-use developments with approximately 4,900 rooms adding up shortly.

Plans to set up tourist camps on Army land for C'wealth Games

NEW DELHI: Unable to provide adequate hotel rooms for the expected tourists during the Commonwealth Games, the government is now hoping to set up camp sites for tourists. Shortage of accommodation continues to worry the tourism ministry and it has asked the Army for land in cantonment areas to set up camps.

DDA pitches in with 3-star flats

New Delhi: It's nothing less than three-star comfort a complex that would allow privacy, give you an option to cook for yourself or bite into anĀ  economical meal at its common eating facilities and also provide a dedicated shuttle service to take you to the Games venues and tourist destinations. That's a glimpse into the 5,000-odd DDA flats in Vasant Kunj and Jasola being readied for tourist during the Commonwealth Games. The first sample flat is likely to be complete by March 31.

Himachal Tourism to offer Commonwealth Games Package

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) hotels would endeavour to give boost to its business promotional activities to attract participants and foreigners to visit Himachal Pradesh proposed Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held in New Delhi during the year 2010 by offering them an attractive package. This was revealed by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, in the 121st Board of Directors Meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation held here under his Chairmanship last evening.
